Join us as we travel through this beautiful preserve, which encompasses 46 acres of gorgeous trails winding through woodland, wetland, prairie, and savanna habitats. Chicago Bird Alliance has hosted walks at Wooded Island in Jackson Park for 50 years!
Our trip leaders will speak about the history and evolution of these birding events prior to the walk, and we will have a ceremonial wreath toss on the north bridge to remember those who have walked the island over the years. Come celebrate with us!

For a great look at Chicago’s wintering ducks, come visit with Chicago Bird Alliance at the Diversey Turning Basin! This is a great trip for anyone interested in a close look at the interesting ducks that spend the winter right in the heart of the city. Beginners are especially welcome!

Join us for a Monday morning outing at Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens in Palos Heights! With features including different habitat types, nearby flowing water, and bird feeders, this site provides a winter escape for birds.
The walking distance will be about 1.75 miles on paved and earthen trails. If time permits, we may visit additional nearby birding hotspots.
