Birds & Beers - Chicagoland

  • Marz Community Brewing Co. 3630 South Iron Street Chicago, IL, 60609 United States (map)

Not an official CBA event, but did you know that there is a monthly social gathering where people chat about birds over drinks!?

This month our Executive Director, Matt Igleski, helped to plan a unique experience at Marz Community Brewing and the adjacent Alma Art gallery.

Event Description

We will be gathering our group on Thursday February 22nd at Marz Community Brewing Co., 3630 S Iron St, Chicago, IL 60609.

In addition to the bird chat over the great beers at Marz, we have an extra special treat this time! We've been invited to visit Alma Art, which is an art gallery just 10 steps away from the entrance to Marz, where there are currently two bird-related art exhibitions being held.

  • Alice Hargrave photographs the sound wave patterns of bird vocalizations to turn them into art. There are works on paper, sheer fabric, and tapestry weavings. She also has a sound installation with archives of bird calls from The Cornell Lab of Ornithology. AliceHargrave.com

  • Tracey Ostmann does very large-scale paintings of birds “watching you!" www.tracyostmannhaschke.com

We'll have an opportunity to visit the gallery from about 6:15-7 pm and then head over to Marz for highbrow art discussions. Of course if you can’t make the early part just show up at anytime! All are always welcome
